The word Subaru (スバル) in Japanese means "unite", "together" or "gather". The name comes from the six stars that make up the constellation Pleiades, which is known as "Subaru" in Japan. The six stars are represented in the logo of the Subaru automobile company. The name was chosen to signify the coming together of five companies to become the Subaru Corporation that is known today.
